THE INSTITUTE FOR BIBLICAL PREACHING FOCUSES ON THE PRACTICAL HOW TO’s  OF PREACHING AND TEACHING THE WORD OF GOD.

Institute For Biblical Preaching is a workshop laboratory of practical application. It is more than an exposure to examples of sermonic or didactic presentation. Each class is presented in a unique style of  “Socratic sermonizing” in which the lesson content is presented as a “sermonic”  example as opposed to the usual “lecture” format.  This sermonic example will be the catalyst for discussion, examination, investigation and alterative presentation.  This method will allow the student the opportunity for both individual adaptation and personal and corporate application of method and message in the sermonic example.

The robust curriculum of IBP focuses only on the various dynamics of preaching and biblical teaching, and does not seek to replace interests in excursions into academic requirements beyond the scope of preaching.  The broader emphasis on theology, history, ethics, and spiritual leadership etc., is reserved and recommended for the context of the many available seminary, Bible College, and Christian school curricula.  IBP’s focus and emphasis are solely on the practical principles, practice, and “how to’s” of preaching.

 INSTITUTE FOR BIBLICAL PREACHING IS…

A certificate program designed to equip men and women, both professional and lay leaders, in fulfilling the call on their lives to preach and teach  the Gospel.

The certificate program consists of two levels: Basic Certificate in Biblical Preaching and Advanced Certificate in Biblical Preaching

THE INSTITUTE PROGRAM CONSISTS OF EIGHT COURSES.  FOUR IN THE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM, AND FOUR IN THE ADVANCED PROGRAM.

BASIC CERTIFICATE COURSE

  • This course features  an investigation examination and  survey of the multi-dimensional dynamics of preaching, the divine dynamic of God and the practical demonstration in the life of the preacher.

  • This course examines the relationship between the priority  of “preaching Christ”, the practice of corporate worship and the principal of unity in the contemporary church.

  • This course is an excursion into the mystical, mandatory mandate to “be filed with the Holy Spirit” and the character, conduct and cooperation of the Spirit of the Living God in the elements of preparation, presentation and power in the dynamics of preaching.  The course will emphasize The Holy Spirit: The Sine Qua Non of Biblical Preaching

  • This course explores the biblical, theological and practical application of the revelation and reality of the biblical principal: “to everything there is a season (Eccl 3:1) and the adage: “Healthy things grow; growing things change…”  When and how to shift and adjust one’s style and maintain substance.

ADVANCED CERTIFICATE COURSE

  • This course explores the theological, historical and contemporary models of prophetic proclamation in light of the biblio-historical patterns of the prophetic and the contemporary challenge of the study of signs, symbols and semantics of our timeless loving God.  Students will explore and learn to express “the Lord hath said,” “thus saith the Lord” and how to say it.

  • In this class the student will investigate the place, practice and principals of counterculture proclamation in the tension of textual fidelity and shifting social ideologies.   Students will learn to balance the call and anointing on their lives and when and how to respond to contemporary challenges to biblical truth.

  • This course  equips the student to sermonically lead the congregation from one corporate season into the next.  Students will learn how to prepare, navigate and preach through the seasons of divinely designed destiny.  How to preach through name changes, leadership succession, ecclesiastical afflation transitions, and major theological shifts, revising and redefining progress and success.

  • This course offers rubrics sequencing what God has said, what God has revealed and how to sermonize what you see.  The student will review homiletic devises on preaching where God is leading the people:  how to lead the people under the cloud of guidance; God’s divine destiny, the challenges, attacks and battles to be expected and overcome.  Fundamental principal: you don’t do it until you teach it.
